Generation 3 - Chapter 30

The next day, as they sat down to burned grilled cheese that Clay made, with an univited guest (why does he continue to come around?) Clay was talking about money. "So what is the best way to make a lot of money?" "Max a skill." "Max a skill? I've already maxed out two and my lifelong goal is to max off all of them, which one should I focus on next?" I think that would be painfully obvious by looking at the meal you are subjecting your family to, Clay. "I heard I could max my cooking skill by cooking something I like and I like eggs! Who wants an omlette?" "No? How about a shake? Smoothie? Ice cream?" Poor Clay, it's a good thing he's cute. After everyone had gotten home from work, Remington thought it would be a good idea for he and Leilani to celebrate their golden anniversary in style, so he dressed up and surpised her with the party. He wanted this to be special for her so he asked her to go outside because he had another surprise for her. When she got out there, she found a bottle of champagne chilling by the pool and she realized how much she really loved Remington. She was about to take the champagne inside when she was suddenly stopped. Before the party had started she was looking through the telescope and happened to maybe glance in Ashley's direction. He caught her and came over to give her a piece of his mind. He was also a bit mad that his fiance, McKenna, was invited and he wasn't, but we won't get into that. Leilani finally made it into the house and into the dining room to make a toast to Remington and their marraige. "I will always love you, Rem. You caught my eye when I was a little girl and you were our maid. I knew someday we would be together and you have given me so many wonderful years and two beautiful daughters. I have never been happier and I want to thank you for making that popssible." Remington and Leilani couldn't keep their eyes off each other as they both took a sip of their champagne and Remington couldn't hide the fact that his eyes were brimming with tears. "How did I get so lucky to end up with this woman?" he thought. As Leilani was walking away to put the champagne on the counter, Remington was about to tell Leilani how much he loved her when - Remington had known this was coming because he hadn't felt well all day. He wanted to throw this party for Leilani so she would have a good memory to connect with a bad one. Rem had accepted his fate and hoped Leilani would feel the same way. Leilani had felt a draft from behind her and she remembered feeling the same thing when both of her parents had died and she knew without having to turn around what that draft was. She knew she had to turn around to face what was happening and she couldn't hide her tears. Pretty soon the rest of the family knew what was going on and couldn't help but cry over the impending loss of their dear Remington. You would think, though, that McKenna, who is Remington's neice, would show some kind of emotion. What was once a fun and lively party has turned into a somber event. A disaster of a party if you would rather call it that. Not wanting to prolong the inevitable, Remington grabbed his suitcase and was ready to depart to the next dimension. He told Leilani he loved her one last time and he was gone. And then all that remained was his urn for his family to mourn over. He had slipped out of platinum before the party and was unable to make it back, so he left a non-platinum urn behind. While Remington was being taken away by the reaper, Lucy was transitioning into elderhood. And yikes, what a scary elder she became! Something has to be done about the way she looks, and quick, or she was going to be going outside to look up at the clouds! It was just about that time when Remington's inheritance was deposited into the family's bank account. Leilani, alone, inherited $20,000. The money was quickly forgotten when she laid eyes on Lucy. "Woman, look at you! You celebrated your birthday in the midst of all that chaos? Interesting choice of clothes you've got there." Clay noticed Leilani took Remington's death very hard, so he thought he would make a toast to her and to what a wonderful wife, aunt, mother she is. "To Aunt Leilani, she is one of the most important women in my life and I want her to know how special she is." And with that, they drank more champagne in honor this time of Leilani. She realized living without her Remington would be hard, but she still had a very wonderful family who would help her through her pain and someday she would be with her husband again. But that didn't mean she couldn't miss him very deeply. Afterall, it is healthy to cry. "Hey, Tony, Marisa, do you need a haunting partner? I know I just got here, but I'm ready!" And here is where Remington will spend the rest of his afterlife.

Aww, I'm glad Remington was able to give Leilani an anniversary party before he died. Although it is too bad he couldn't work his way back up to platinum first. Hopefully she won't pine away too badly now that he's gone.

How sad...poor Leilani losing her true love right after he threw her a wonderful party! I hope she copes well, and I'm sure her family will help her.
